The T-38 first flew in 1959 and remains the US Air Force’s standard advanced trainer. The T-38 accommodates two pilots in tandem. Its has a maximum speed of Mach 1.23+, range of 955 nm (1700 km), and is powered by two General Electric J85-GE-5 turbojets, with a thrust of 5360 lb (2432 kg), 7700 lb (3496 kg) with afterburner. There were also different variants of the Talon such as the AT-38 with hard points for its role as a lead-in fighter trainer and the T-38M Nasa version with radar and glass cockpit.
